Today…I am Mr. Mom.  The life lessons are different when you stay at home all day.  It’s a bit like Lord of the Flies up in here, I half expect to round the corner and see my son tied up to a chair with a pigs head on a pike.  Fortunately, I have a half parrot daughter that keeps me out of trouble…”Mommy says….this  and Mommy doesn’t let Judah…that”  Its like parenting with the bumper up on a bowling alley.

So, both kids are sitting on the bar stools and both have glasses of apple juice placed in front of them.  With my most stern voice I admonish  my son: ” You only get one apple juice! So, once its gone its gone.”  I felt a bit like Eminem singing in 8 mile.  So these are the two approaches the kids took:

1.) Judah (my two year old)- he’s a real live fast, die young and leave a beautiful corpse type–woulda done great in the 60′s.  He decides to chug that sonnumma gun like he’s John Belushi after a competetive cracker eating contest.

2.) My daughter Kenyan (who is 5) decides that discretion is the better part of valor, and treats that Welch’s like its a 1945 Mouton, trying to drag it out like the last five minutes at Disney World.

This is what I took away from the encounter– Life is short chug the good stuff.

Somehow the parrot comment makes me envision a bit of a pirate theme. The whole post could play out with kind of a Jack Sparrow shipwrecked with lord of the flies….I’m not sure what your character would be Matt.

Well, Blackbeard would seem a bit cliche and perhaps misleading with the preponderance of gray pirates on the beardship. I am a big fan of pirates though, in fact one of my favorite holidays is Sept. 19th aka, International talk like a pirate day! http://www.talklikeapirate.com/

Well, I just learned the other day, that I am the direct descendant of the Pirate/Privateer Henry Morgan of Morgan’s Rum fame. So, I would go with the reanimated corpse of Henry Morgan that shows up as a skeleton in the moon light. (Might as well keep the Pirates of the Carribean them, aargh!)

Avast ye! I too am a big fan of “Talk like a pirate day” , almost as fun as Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute–December 30!
